Here’s the scenario- you finally get some time to create your art… and you don’t have ANY IDEAS! Maybe you’re tired, or stressed.
Or maybe your Muse went on vacation.
You can try putting on your favorite music, lighting your scented candle, going inward to meditate, all your muse inducing tricks- but when they just don’t work?
That is when I try art play.
I sat and day dreamed and doodled on paper. I love to draw mindlessly, so I just chatted on the phone with a friend and drew. When done with that, I sprayed the paper with water, dropped on random colors, and set it off to dry.
Remember- this is an experiment for me, I’d never thought to try this before. But why not try something new?
I cut up some scrap paper and taped it over the surface.
Next, I removed each piece, one by one, and randomly developed the colors and patterns I’d drawn. This was sort of fun- and I did not peek at previous areas.
When done all the pieces, I took off the scrap paper.
In Progress, to be continued…
So- this is what I was left with. This is an in-progress image. Sort of pretty, not very unified, and way more work than I wanted to do last summer to pull it together!
But at least I had done something with my art time, and maybe in the future I would get back to it…
If that clean white surface intimidates you, why not try to doodle on it?
I will share the completion of this painting next week; the finished work actually won a place in a facebook e-zine!
Have an awesome day!
